Doula support for families, birth workers & a stronger Lansing community

Helping us Grow (HUG) connects pregnant and parenting people with compassionate doula care while supporting Black and BIPOC doulas through mentorship, referrals, professional development, and community

OUR MISSION

Support before, during, and beyond birth.

Pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting can bring a whole garden of feelings.
Excitement. Questions. Decisions. The “wait, is this normal?” moments.

Helping Us Grow Doula Collective, also known as HUG, was created to make doula
care easier to understand, access, and trust. We support families looking for respectful,
informed, and culturally responsive care, while also helping doulas grow their
confidence, visibility, and connection in the community.

At the heart of our work is a simple belief: everyone deserves support that helps them
feel heard, cared for, and confident.

How can we support you?

Whether you are looking for a doula or growing your work as a birthworker, you are in the right place.

FOR FAMILIES

Learn what doulas do, explore birth and postpartum support, and find trusted care for your pregnancy, birth, and parenting journey.

FOR DOULAS

Members of the Collective can connect with mentorship, professional development, referrals, outreach opportunities, and a supportive community of birthworkers.

WHAT WE DO

Growing access to doula care, one family and birthworker at a time.

HUG is more than a referral resource. We are a community-centered collective working to improve access to doula support and strengthen the network of doulas serving families in the Greater Lansing area.

DOULA CARE EDUCATION

Helping families understand what doulas do, how doula care works, and what support may look like during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

FAMILY CONNECTION

Connecting families with trained doulas who offer compassionate, culturally responsive support.

BIRTHWORKER SUPPORT

Offering doulas mentorship, peer connection, professional development, and resources to support their practice.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Creating opportunities for education, advocacy, events, and conversations that support stronger birth outcomes.

BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. It’s an inclusive term used to recognize communities that have historically experienced racial inequities and underrepresentation.
