Sharde’ Burton

Sharde’ is passionate about Black maternal health and helping to create positive, empowering birth journeys. As a birth doula and Lamaze-certified childbirth educator, she provides educational, emotional, and physical support to birthing persons throughout the prenatal period and offers continuous support during birth.  Her goal is to ensure birthing persons have access to evidence-based information, understand their options, and feel empowered to make informed decisions about their care.  With many years of experience in public health, Sharde’ is committed to promoting health equity and addressing health disparities among people of color. She took a leap into birthwork in 2020 and has since supported numerous families throughout the Lansing area.  In addition to serving families, Sharde’ is a doula mentor, supporting and encouraging the next generation of birthworkers. Since 2023, she has mentored doulas through H.U.G., helping doulas strengthen their skills, confidence, and knowledge as they navigate their birthwork journeys.  Through both her work as a doula and mentor, Sharde’ is dedicated to building a more equitable, informed, and supportive birth experience for families and the birthworkers who serve them.
